A Brazilian man aged 66 years believes he is a reincarnation of Jesus Christ while his critics view him as a mentally case. The man who has christened himself Inri Cristo-Inri meaning Jesus the Nazarene, King of the Jews and Cristo which stands for Christ-has a modest following in France, Britain, UK and other parts of the world.
Inri discovered that he was Christ in 1997 during a religious fast in Santiago, Chile. He claims that a powerful voice had been speaking on his head but it was during the fast that it told him: ‘I am your Father. The God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob.’
Inri has a church, Suprema Ordem Universal da Santmssima Trindale (Soust), located in the outskirts of Brasilia, the capital of Brazil which he fondly calls ‘New Jerusalem’. Inri and his followers relish homegrown fruits like Bananas, mangos and avocados and vegetables.
