Kenyan Celebrities who have made it Big abroad in different fields

Talents oozes in Kenyans and this is evidenced by our very own actors, musicians, models, business people and sports personality superiority in their respective fields. We take a look at nine Kenyans who have made our country proud by their heroics….

Daniel Adongo: NFL Player
He was not a household name in Kenya until recently when he appeared on Churchil Live Show. The professional NFL player started out as a rugby player before joining the elite American football-a game that is not very popular among Kenyans. Before joining the NFL, The 24 year old Strathmore alumni, played professional rugby in South Africa.

Lupita Nyongo: A-List Actor
Kenya actors have played a peripheral role in the big stage until one Lupita Nyongo was discovered. She has impressed in Hollywood blockbusters and has walked home with prestigious award edging out seasoned actors. Her role in 12 years A Slave was simply outstanding. Our every own Nyongo has been branded a fashion icon and what endears her to many is her simplicity.

Dennis Oliech: Ajjacio Footballer Player
Kenyan has never produced a lethal football striker in the caliber of Dennis Oliech. He was the first professional footballer to have played in the lucrative French league with Nantes before moving to Auxerre. He has played an integral part in both clubs although he is currently experiencing a goal drought in his current club Ajjacio.

McDonald Wanyama:Inter Milan
He made Kenyans stand tall when he made history as the first player from this region to play in the coveted UEFA Champions league and winning the treble with Inter Milan- never mind he played only a marginal role. The footballer also scored some crucial goals for the club. Currently his form has been dented with prolonged injury affording him limited playing time.

Victor Wanyama: Southampton FC
The most prized and talked player in the country right now is Victor Mugube Wanyama. His move to Celtic gave him the much needed exposure that he needed to shine in bigger clubs. At Celtic he was a living legend. The midfielder scored against the much dreaded Barcelona and that’s when Kenyans and the world took him serious. His heroics attracted attention from the EPL and he currently ply’s his trade Southampton FC.

STL: Norway Based Kenyan Rapper
This Norway Based Kenyan rapper is lethal on the mic and has made a name in the international showbiz scene. STL has given us back to back hits and is regarded highly in Norway for her lyrical prowess.

Kiran Shah: Actor
Standing at  4' 1" ft  (1.26m), actor Kiran Shah has a rich Kenyan background as he spent 12 years in the country before relocating to India. The family was to later move to London where the current holder of the Guinness World Record of shortest professional stuntman realized his acting dreams. Kiran Shah who doubles as a poet has played majors roles in  The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (as the dwarf), Ginarrbrik, Superman, Star Wars — episode six, The Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Lord of The Rings, and Titanic.

Dawson Alexander: WWE Professional Wrestler
Kenyans are keen followers of Word Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) but what many are not aware of is that two time tag winner champion, Dawson Alexander has Kenyan roots. The 33 year old wrestler, a graduate at Harvard University and a lawyer by profession, was born Davis Daniel Otunga to a Kenyan father and an American Mother.

Benjamin ‘Benji’ Ochieng’: Hollywood Actor
He is a big name in Hollywood celebrity circles and an even bigger name in Kenya even though many have no idea that he is from Kenya. Benji has acted alongside such greats as Bruce Willis and appeared in long running series like X-Files. The actor holds a computer science degree from the prestigious California State University.
