Heavily armed Suspected Al Shabaab militia killed 28 people on Saturday morning on a Nairobi bound bus in Arabiya area, Mandera County. The bus is said to have been waylaid as it left Mandera, which has suffered under the hands of Al Shabaab, in the wee hours of the morning.

The Mandera East sub-county commissioner Elvis Korir told The Standard: "I can confirm to you that there was unfortunate incident this morning where about 27 innocent travelers were killed by unknown militia," He added “We are now in the preparation of sending security reinforcement, medical staffs and ambulance to retrieve and transport the bodies of the deceased to Mandera town”.

It is reported that the heartless killers targeted those they perceived to be non-Muslim for the brutal executions. Those who practice the Muslims were set free. Speculation is rife that the killings could be linked to the attacks on profiled Mosques in Mombasa.
