ODM Blames IEBC For The Violence That Erupted At The Botched Homa Bay Senatorial Nominations

Blame games and violence seems to be synonymous with the Orange Democratic Party (ODM) as witnessed yesterday when a gang of youths, now christened “Men In White” disrupted the Homa Bay senatorial nominations citing irregularities.

Most of the ODM top brass blamed the unprecedented chaos to IEBC with only Millie Ojiambo reading from a different script.

ODM director of communication was quoted by a section of the media castigating the IEBC for not allowing ample time to carry out the nominations exercise.

“Good examples are Makueni, Bungoma and Siaya by-elections last year. parties are given a 21-day notice to prepare for a by-election during which they can invite aspirants to apply, fill the forms, pay the requisite amount of money, ballot papers printed, clerks, presiding officers and returning officer recruited and trained then nomination exercise is conducted across the county by universal suffrage. The time given by the IEBC for the Homa Bay Senatorial seat was short and untenable by the Commission.”

Millie Odhiambo however said that the party should listen to the cries of the locals or risk losing support.
