Senator Otieno Kajwang’ widow Faith Vivian Otieno has not received a penny from the 6.7 million raised by friends to go towards their children education. Faith stormed the Lee Funeral Home with her daughter in tow to view the body of the Homa Bay senator claiming that she was being treated like an outsider.
Since the demise of the Kajwang’, her relationship with the husband family has been frosty at best. She accuses Kajwang’s brothers of denying her school fees to send her daughter to college. She told a weekly magazine that run the story;
“What is painful is that a harambee was held to cater for the education of Kajwang’s children. Yet right now, my daughter is at home. She can’t go to school even though somebody somewhere has the money that was raised for the children.”
Faith says she had to beg and plead for three weeks to get fees to send her son back to university. Faith met Kajwang in the 90’s when he was still a broke lawyer bubbling with ambition. She claims that Kajwang’ told her that he was formally married but the wife had left him and that he was single.
Faith clarified that she wasn’t Kajwang’s mpango wa Kando but was legally married and dowry paid. Kajwang who was accompanied by Raila Odinga to pay dowry of 12 cows and Sh60,000 in 1993. They were married for 19 years.
Kajwang was even building a home for Faith.
“I wouldn’t have married him if he was still married to her. But she had left him and the country in search of greener pastures. He was a single man when I married him. I didn’t know he was going to be a politician, I didn’t know he would even have money, all I saw in him was love,” she says.
