Francis Atwoli & Other COTU Officials Skip George Muchai Requiem Mass…Is It Guilt?

The requiem mass for the late Kabete MP George Muchai was held today at the Kanyariri grounds in Kabete. The somber event was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Governors, senators, speakers of both houses and his fellow MPs.

What was however disturbing was the conspicuous absence of Francis Atwoli and other COTU officials. Francis Atwoli was at crossroads with Muchai. The late legislator had even taken him to court on allegations of embezzling the union funds. The COTU secretary general was among the first Kenyans to send his message of condolence to the family. He urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation to allay rumors that he may have been involved.

Kenyans on the social media have however questioned why he or any representative of COTU did not attend the requiem mass. Atwoli was quoted saying that the union will help offset the funeral expenses.
