According to a story that run on NTV, the car used by the killers was a Mercedes Benz with Ugandan number plates. Investigators have disputed that account saying that the cameras did not even capture Muchai’s Toyota Fortuner car, leave alone the masked killers. They said that although the devices worked both were outside the field of vision.
It has also been revealed that the cars that were captured passing shortly after the shooting of the MP was a Nissan Wingroad and two unidentified cars whose number plates were not visible.
“Let us make it clear – all the CCTV cameras in the CBD are working. The unfortunate events that happened on Saturday were all captured.”
Police however said that the footage provided to them did not show any Probox car. Witnesses had stated that the killers had used a Toyota Probox. Police are now relying on footage installed in banks and nearby buildings to piece what really transpired on the fateful night.
Investigators have vowed to accomplish the mission of finding the killers within 72 hours and are working on two theories.
The first theory is that the MP may have been killed by criminals who target motorists driving high end vehicles from exclusive entertainment.
And the second theory is that his killing may have resulted from wrangles within the leadership of Cotu.
