I Was Not Behind The Heinous Murder Of Kabete MP George Muchai, Francis Atwoli Says

COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli has come out to ally speculations that he was involved in the murder of his deputy and Kabete MP George Muchai. It was an open secret that the two did not see eye to eye. The MP had in the past accused and even taken Atwoli to court for allegedly operating 14 secret accounts and embezzling money belonging to the union.

The secretary general said he was well aware that his frosty relationship with Muchai may have led Kenyans to speculate that he had a hand in his death. Now Atwoli has asked the government to speed up investigations and establish who the killers are to serve justice to the family and Kabete constituents who he represented in parliament. He told a press conference:

“The government must do a thorough probe to tell Kenyans who is behind his death. Anything short of this will only breed rumours……..He was never a threat to me or us at Cotu and the differences we had were very healthy for the trade union movement and based on issues at hand.

“Despite our differences, which are normal in life, he remained a friend and a colleague. Remember we grew up with George in Nairobi and had known each other for the last 50 years.”

Cotu secretary general said that the police should make use of the CCTV cameras installed in the city to help establish who the killers are and fast to stop Kenyans from speculating. Atwoli said that the union will be involved in the funeral arrangements of the MP.
