The key suspects in the murder of Kabete MP George Muchai revealed what led to the shooting of the MP and his three aides. They told investigators to the murder that they fired after one of the MP bodyguard tried to reach for his gun.
The carjackers took an interest on the MPs car because it was parked making for easy prey. This confession is similar to what the two women who had been carjacked and their car used in a series of robberies told police.

They had only made Sh6,000 which they got from the two women they had carjacked after forcing them to withdraw from an ATM in Kikuyu town.
Muchai Toyota Fortuner was parked along Kenyatta Avenue as he waited for a newspaper he had ordered when the carjackers pounced. They wanted to carjack and rob the occupants when they noticed the MPs bodyguard preparing to shoot with a pistol. One of the thugs had reportedly warned his accomplices that the occupants looked like police officers as they were dressed in suits. This is when one of the gunmen opened fire.
The six suspects, among them two women, appeared in court yesterday and police were granted 22 more days to hold them in custody.
The suspects are: Steven Astiva Lipopo, alias Chokore, Raphael Kimani Gachie, alias Kim Butcher, Mustafa Kimani Anyonyi, alias Musto, Eric Isabwa Munyeria, alias Chairman, Margaret Njeri Wachiuri and Jane Wanjiru Kamau, alias Shiro.
