The Meru County government has set aside sh300 million to build their governor Peter Munya a mansion. According to county development plan for 2013-2017 the governor residence should be ready by December 2015.

The three storied, self contained, 10 bedroom mansion will comprise of two bed-roomed staff and security team houses, a conference facility, offices, sauna, minibar, a fountain as well as a swimming pool. Other outrageous projects to be undertaken by the county include a Sh700 governor’s Plaza and Sh260 Huduma centre. The Governors have been asking the national government for more disbursement for development in their counties.
