The woes facing Nairobi Aviation College have deepened after investigators confirmed allegations that the institution offered fake certificates. The damning report from the Technical And Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) revealed that diploma students were taught by lecturers who had the same qualification.
THE TVETA Chairman, Prof Wilson Ogola instructed the institution to stop the issuance of internal certificates with immediate effect.
“The college should stop offering these courses until such a time when they have put together a qualified team to teach them.”
The expose by NTV that uncovered the fraudulent issuance of certificates and diplomas to unqualified students prompted the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology together with the TEVTA to conduct independent investigations to determine the authenticity of the claims.
He also directed that other institutions issuing internal academic certificates not approved by the authority should cease forthwith or face the consequences.
Nairobi Aviation College is now required to seek fresh registration in line with the TVET Act of 2013.
