Shockwaves: Neck To Neck Race Between ODM Moses Kajwang & MPD Candidate Philip Okundi....Tension In ODM

Homa Bay residents started trickling in poll stations from 6am to elect their senator following the death of Otieno Kajwang. The senatorial seat has attracted 8 candidates but only two are seen as serious contenders. ODM Moses Kajwang and Maendeleo Democratic Party candidate Mr Philip Okundi are neck to neck in the ongoing by-elections.

Other contenders are: Mr Fred Rabongo (National Agenda Party) and Mr Bernard Owuor Otieno (National Vision Party). The independent candidates are Mr Hillary Onyango Ochieng Alila, Mr Edwin Omondi Matete, Mr Innocent Masara and Prof Luke Medo Misama.
Raila Odinga and the CORD brigade have set camp in Homa Bay county to campaign for Moses Kajwang who hasn’t been very popular with the electorate.

Police have deployed 2,000 police officers to ensure that any form of violence is contained in the 816 polling stations. Acting Inspector General Samuel Arachi was quoted by a section of the media saying:

"To ensure that the exercise is undertaken smoothly, all the relevant agencies have put in place"
