Was Francis Atwoli & COTU Officials Told To Keep Off From George Muchai Burial Ceremony? (See Details)

The animosity between Francis Atwoli and the late Kabete MP George Muchai was an open secret-the two loved to hate each other. The COTU secretary general was among the first people to send his condolences to the family of his deputy. He asked police to speed up investigations to ensure that the killers are brought to book and allay fears that he was in any way involved with the heinous murder of the legislator.

The secretary general, flanked by other COTU leadership, promised to get involved in the burial arrangements of the late legislator, a gesture that seems to have been rebuffed by the family. During yesterday requiem mass held in Kiambu not a single official from the union was present. The MP, who was shot dead alongside three aides, had taken Francis Atwoli to court on allegations of operating secret accounts and swindling money running in billions of shillings.

A lot of theories have been propagated on what could have been the motive of the legislator death. What is however clear is that the family didn’t want anything to do with Francis Atwoli and other COTU officials. The MP will be buried today at his Kamulu farm. The Deputy President William Ruto and former Prime Minister are among those in attendance at the burial ceremony.
