We Skipped Kabete MP George Muchai Burial After Receiving Threats, Cotu Explain Their Absence

The absence of the purple shirts in Kabete MP George Muchai burial was interpreted by a section of Kenyans as guilt from the COTU officials. One MP who was present at the burial ceremony of the legislator asked why COTU was represented while others accused the union of being behind the heinous murder of Muchai.

Cotu national executive member has come out to explain their absence from the burial saying that they had received information that mourners had been incited against. He singled out sentiments from Labour CS Kazungu Kambi and two Jubilee MPs who alluded that the union was behind the murder of Muchai who wanted to expose their corrupt dealings.

He was quoted by a section of the media saying:

"We were well aware of the plan. What would have happened to us after Labour CS Kazungu Kambi and MP Alice Nganga openly insinuated that we were behind the circumstances that led to the death of our brother Muchai?"

"The police should arrest the MPs and let them record statements if they know much about the legislator's demise."

He further said that the leaders should help police with investigations instead of blaming the media. Atwoli in his part said that he had nothing to do with the murder and that the allegations leveled against have put his family in harm’s way.
