Plans are underway by one of the leading media houses to air their first news bulletin on big screens in the CBD. Three leading TV stations were shut off by the Communication Authority for over two weeks for failing to migrate to the digital platform.
The government stood firm and in the process denied millions of Kenyans access to news and their favorite programs on TV. The media houses had anticipated that Kenyans would rally behind them but very few people seemed to care. If the impasse had continued hundreds of journalists and support staff would have been rendered jobless and the media houses would have made huge losses.
