MPs are not sleeping easy after learning that the Al shabaab was planning to bomb parliament. The Budget and Appropriations Committee took this threat seriously and went on to allocate a total of Sh700 million for their security and that of senators in the next financial year.
According to intelligence reports shared by the Egyptian government, the Al Shabaab had planned to bomb the Kenyan Parliament and their installations in the country.

The House chairman Mutava Musyimi tabled the figures contained in the 2015/16 Budget Policy Statement in the National Assembly on Wednesday. Some of the security measures the MPs want is building of a tunnel that will enable them access their offices County Hall and Continental House and also be shielded from their constituents who wait for them outside parliament.
They are also seeking additional security personnel following the heinous murder of Kikuyu MP George Muchai.
Other recommendations made on the budget include an allocation of Sh17.4 billion, sh20billion, Sh5 billion, Sh93 billion and Sh87 billion to the Judiciary, National Intelligence Service, the Presidency, Ministry of Defence and Devolution and National Planning respectively.
