MPs are becoming increasingly easy prey for thugs after Edick Anyanga was shot in his Karen home by unknown gunmen.
The gunmen, who wore balaclavas, pounced on the MP as he was entering his house after he disembarked from his vehicle together with his driver. The armed men, who were already in the compound when the MP arrived, proceeded to the house where a scuffle ensued.
The legislator had tried to block the thugs from entering the house when he was hit by a gun on his head, hand and shoulder.
As the thugs tried to gained entry to the house the MP resisted and he was hit on the head, shoulder and hand with a gun. The driver suffered a similar fate after he attempted to block the thugs from leaving with the MP son.
Edick was rushed to Karen Hospital before being transferred to Aga Khan Hospital where he is said to be in stable condition.
Mr Anyanga is one of the MPs adversely mentioned in the corruption dealings that have hit the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). He was accused by the PAC chairman Ababu Namwamba of being a recipient of bribes to doctor in favor of Defence Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo.
Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo told a a section of the media:
“I have personally talked to him and he is stable condition but the doctors have advised that they will do a scan to establish extent of injury,”
“We do not want to read mischief until an investigation by police is carried out,”
