The big news that will dominate headlines this week is the rape allegations leveled against Imenti Central MP Gideon Mwiti.

He was first elected as Imenti Central in the March 2013 elections replacing Gitobu Imanyara
Gideon Mwiti Irea is a shareholder of the Kenya Akiba Micro Finance Ltd that allegedly swindled Kenyans Sh 750 million at the height of the pyramid scheme controversy in 2005 when CBK closed it down, following months of brisk business.
Mr Irea, nicknamed “Livondo” by his supporters after flamboyant Nairobi politician Stanley Livondo, vied for the parliamentary seat on an Aliiance Party of Kenya (APK) ticket.
Mwiti was accused by Mwariama FM radio presenter, Jamlick Kirai, of issuing death threats to the journalist after he accused him of corruption.
He is very close to Kiraitu Murungi and even urged Meru universities to grant the Senator honorary degrees.
His role model, Kiraitu Murungi, equated the fight against corruption to “like raping a woman who is already willing. He went on to apologize after condemnation and protests from Women’s rights groups.
