Ngilu has said that she is not ready to rejoin the Jubilee government but will instead take time off to re-strategize for 2017 general election. She expressed the same sentiments when she visited Mbiatu FM that is associated with the suspended CS.

She reportedly told presenters that they will be seeing more of her:
"She has told presenters to expect to see her more often at the station as she is not likely to go back to Cabinet.."
President Uhuru suspended CSs and other top government officials who had appeared on a report prepared by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. Ngilu had been accused of asking for Sh65 million from Evanson Waitiki as kickback in a deal she insists the President was well aware of. She is said to have asked the valuers to inflate Waitiki’s 930 acres by Sh110 million.
The President is expected to make his decision on the fate of the Cabinet Secretaries but Ngilu is not keen on rejoining the government.
