Meanwhile, Raila co-principles Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula seem to be lost in the wilderness. It is said that the two have no financial muscle to mount any serious campaign and look completely lost. Raila is said to be travesring the country, holding strategic meetings and building friendships with former political allies.
Raila has already launched a website and short message platform that is designed to connect with supporters in the country and the diaspora. Having learnt from his past defeat, Raila has a team that is traversing the country urging youths to register as voters.
Kalonzo and Wetang’ula are watching from the sidelines although they have declared their bids to run for 2017 presidential elections.
A senior Cord member was quoted as saying:
“We are shocked that Kalonzo and Wetang’ula are not preparing for the presidency. Our expectations are that since they are Raila's co-principals they should at least be showing signs of successfully challenging Jakom for the Cord ticket. As things are, they are just playing second fiddle”
“These gentlemen are just day dreaming that at this rate they can expect Raila to eat humble pie and support one of them. That is just a castle in the air, the reality will dawn on them that they lack enough grassroots support to compete with Raila.”
Kalonzo was quoted as saying he expected Raila to reciprocate to support him in 2017 since he supported him in 2013.
