The woes bedeviling suspended Land CS Charity Ngilu has forced her to seek solace in Cord, a party she ditched for Jubilee in the run up to the 2013 general elections.
Ngilu, who appeared in Milimani Law Court accompanied by Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka, is said to regret ever joining Jubilee. Ngilu faced charges of obstructing justice. Politicians allied to the President and unnamed powerbrokers are said to be behind her tribulations. Ngilu is said to add no value in the ruling coalition and the President is now wooing Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.

The enthusiasm to rid corruption and the tight handle of land business by TNA-allied power brokers at Ardhi House has been Ngilu undoing. The powerful cartels are said to have regrouped and are working overnight to see that Ngilu is out of the Land ministry, reports the Weekly Citizen.
Ngilu told the Ethics and Anti Corruptions detectives:
“I have encountered immense resistance from the cartels. Is it possible that these cartels working with other powerful forces are the ones accusing me and want to ensure that all the efforts towards transforming the land sector in Kenya are laid to waste?”
A plan is in the pipeline to replace Ngilu with a person from Central Kenya who will be willing to play ball. The suspended Land CS claimed that the President was aware of the dealings of the two of the three parcels of land that put her on the infamous list of shame.
Ngilu has hinted before that she may resign and join Cord. This was further fuelled by the presence of Kalonzo Musyoka in court when Ngilu was in the dock. The two were sworn political enemies. Charity has turned the corruption allegations leveled against her into a political contest. The Jubilee government has been made to appear like it targeting the Kamba community.
