Police have released photos of 38 Al Shabaab militants who are believed to have taken part in the botched attack at Baure military base in Lamu County.
The attackers were repulsed by the KDF soldiers with 15 Al Shabaab fighters and two soldiers being killed in the ensuing gunfight.
Those in the list include German, Ahmed Mueller, alias Ahmed Khaled, alias Musiabha who is said to have been behind the killing of more than 90 people in the Mpeketoni attack last year. He was born in February 15, 1972 in Cochem, Germany.
A Kenyan national, Ramadhan Kioko, alias Pinji, alias Abu Nuseiba is also featured in the list. Kioko was a known pickpocket in Nairobi before he sneaked to Somalia to join the Al Shabaab. He lives in Somalia with his wife Hawa and 13 year old son.
“Ramadhan Kioko is from Majengo, Nairobi, and is a close associate of Ahmed Iman. Kioko is married to Hawa who is also in Somalia, making them a complete family of Al Shabaab militants, a unique and rare situation in terrorism circles,” read part of a statement from Interior Ministry.
Security agents have urged locals to report any suspicious characters in their midst.
