The Number Of Soldiers Killed By Al Shabaab In Lamu May be Higher Than Two….(See Details)

The number of soldiers killed in Baure, Lamu county by Al Shabaab militants still remains a mysterious. According to KDF spokesman, Col David Obonyo, only two KDF soldiers died but the number of burials tell a different story.

The Standard reported that three soldiers have already been buried in various parts of the country and three more families are preparing to bury their kin. The families have claimed that their kin died in the botched dawn attack in their military base.

Those who have already been buried are Abdi Farah, Ramadhan Kibet Kitilit, Mohammed Suleiman Mwandevu who were buried in Nairobi, Uasin Gishu and Mombasa respectively. Col Obonyo told The Standard that Mwandevu did not die in the dawn attack but from an improvised explosive device planted by Al Shabaab as the KDF were pursuing them.

Among the three soldiers who are yet to be buried is Erick Kipyegon Langat, 28 year old Mark Nyongesa from Kakamega County and 31 year old Bernard Cheruiyot from Kericho.
