For the second day running the Deputy President William Ruto has successfully ‘dodged’ US President Barrack Obama.
The DP was not among those who received Obama when he landed at the JKIA yesterday. He was also absent at today’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) that Obama co-hosted with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The explanation given yesterday was that both the President and Deputy President are not required by international law and the Kenyan constitution to receive a visiting Head of State.

That is however not the case as both the President and his DP received Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2013.
Ruto case at the ICC is probably the main reason that he has been kept at bay from meeting the US President. Another school of thought is that the DP feels unwanted and has opted to play hide and seek.
US National Security Adviser Susan Rice said Mr Ruto would be present during bilateral meetings with President Obama and President Uhuru Kenyatta since. “He is a member of the government and so will be present at some of the events,” she said
Only time will tell if he will shake the President hand.
