Razor tongued Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria was captured on a video recording urging Kiambu youths to attack politicians perceived to be questioning accountability at the National Youth Service (NYS).
He was quoted as saying in Gikuyu language during an NYS recruitment drive in Gatundu:
“Nikio ndoigire mwambe muke na mabanga manyu. Mabanga mau ti magutuguta tu, ni muaigwa? Mundu ta ucio mukamba mugaceeha mukarikiriria.”
Translated in English:
“That is why I said you first come with your pangas. It [the panga] is not for slashing grass only, do you hear me? A man like that [a politician who opposed NYS initiatives] should be slashed and finished off.”
He went on to say in Swahili:
“Mimi najua yule Jamaa wa Vitendawili alisema nyinyi ni militia ya Jubilee; hapa Gatundu, nyinyi ni militia yangu. Nimewapatia mapanga, kata mtu kama munataka.”
“I know that fellow full of parables said you were the Jubilee militia. Here in Gatundu, you are my militia. I have given you pangas, cut up someone if you feel like it)”.
“Panga nimepatia mulinde hiyo maendeleo ile mimi na President wetu Uhuru Kenyatta tumewaletea (I have given you those pangas to guard the progress that I and President Uhuru Kenyatta have brought to you)”.
