US President Barrack Obama politely declined expensive gifts presented to him by his host President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a show of appreciation for the historic visit by the US President, Uhuru gifted him with two portraits by pencil artists Collins Okello and an elephant sculpture all going for $3,000.

Obama was visibly impressed by the artifacts but he could not accept them as the American laws forbid him from accepting gifts from other Presidents.
Such gifts must first be cleared by the relevant authorities before Obama can receive them.
Gifts to an American President must first be cleared by the department in charge of gifts to the head of state and other state officers. Only gifts from family members and citizens are exempted from this rule.
According to State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi that the process of channelling the gifts through the respective department has already started.
