Former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru has asked Cord leader to forgive her after she ditched ODM for the Jubilee Party.
Wanjiru, who has aspirations of running for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the forthcoming general election, is not favored by Central Kenya powerbrokers who are rallying behind former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth for the powerful position.
The straight shooting Bishop attempts to align herself with Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru and nominated MP Johnson Sakaja has not been received positively by the top echelons in Jubilee.
Peter Kenneth is in the same camp with Kisia-who will be his running mate, while Millicent Omanga will be the Women Rep. Current Nairobi Women rep Rachel Shebesh will be nominated as Nairobi senator.
This leaves Margaret Wanjiru gubernatorial ambitions in tatters. She is said to be courting the ODM party leader to gave her a second chance.
She was quoted as saying:
“I am a born again Christian and I can’t hide my dissatisfaction in Jubilee. When I was in ODM, I was happy because no one ever harassed of chased me away. Raila treated me with love and respect yet he is Luo. Here, my own people are neglecting and even chasing me away from our own party”
Her son, the Mathare MP Stephen Kariuki, is also said to be distancing himself from Jubilee after declaring that he will stand with Uhuru.
Kariuki was quoted as saying:
“Uhuru and Ruto are more popular now than they were in 2013 and will easily win 2017 elections”
Wanjiru son is married to Uhuru Kenyatta’s niece Nana Gecaga.
It is yet to be seen how Raila Odinga will react to the new development.
