Ex NTV journalist Yassin Juma was arrested on Saturday night and locked up at Muthaiga Police Station. Yassin has over the past week blogged extensively on the Al Shabaab attack on Kenya Defence Forces in their El Adde base that left scores dead.
The Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery had warned Kenyans of dire consequences if they shared gory pictures and messages of dead soldiers.
The journalist went ahead to reveal the number of the Kenya heroes who had died in the Al Shabaab ambush and photos of the attack on the base. This seems to have rubbed the powers that be the wrong way.
Juma will be arraigned in court on Monday although it’s not clear what he has been charged with.
Kenyans took to the social media with the hashtag #FreeYassinJuma, to demand the immediate release of the blogger.
