Trouble For Alfred Mutua As Thousands Protests Over His Dictatorial Style Of Governance (See Photos)

Traders block section of Kangundo road in protest over high taxes

Traders in Machakos county blocked roads and engaged anti-riot police in running battles over the newly introduced taxes by the county government.

Commuters were affected after Lorries blocked a section of Kangundo road forcing them to walk for about 10 kilometres to get transport to their destinations.

According to the traders, the county government did not consult them when they introduced the new rates.

Senator Muthama was among the leaders who were present in the day long protest. Muthama and Governor Alfred Mutua don’t see eye to eye.

While addressing the traders, Muthama urged governor to consult widely before imposing high taxes on the traders.

The county government said in a statement that the traders were involved when they came up with the new rates and read politics in the protests.
