Kenya foremost democrat Raila Odinga has a penchant for scoring own political goals. Over and over he has made the same mistakes and the trend does not seem to be slowing down.
One of his biggest weakness is the people he trust. His cabal of advisors have been known to misadvise him and hopefully he will see some light if he cares to read this article.
For starters, Raila Amollo Odinga should be well aware that no Kikuyu will ever support him.
Just recently Hon Isaac Mwaura ditched ODM, the party that nominated him to parliament, to join the ruling Jubilee coalition.
This was again the case when he fished the controversial Racheal Shebesh from God knows where and nominated to parliament.
Shebesh, who is now the Nairobi Women Rep, defecated on Raila’s generosity and decamped to Jubilee.
Again the Cord leader put is best foot forward to campaign for Margaret Wanjiru son, Kariuki, who went on to win the hotly contested Mathare seat.
Mother and son then went on to publicly ditch the ODM party to go back ‘home’.
But does the Cord leader learn? If his recent association with Tony Gachoka is anything to go by then Raila is not learning from his past mistakes.
Gachoka, who appeared on Jeff Koinange show drunk like a skunk, threw a few barbs at the direction of William Ruto and advised the President to look elsewhere for a Deputy President.
Afew days later he had secured a meeting with Odinga. It was rumoured that he was joining Raila’s team.
For starters, Gachoka was a close confidant of Raila Odinga when he was the Prime Minister of Kenya. It did not take a rocket scientist to read Gachoka next political move. The loud mouthed debt laden political analyst decamped to Uhuru’s camp.
It’s worrying that Raila can even consider welcoming him to his inner sanctum. It’s now high time for Raila to stop this nationalistic approach to politics and concentrate on regions that will vote for him.
Martha Karua. Now she is a living legend among the Cord diehards. This is the same lady who played the key role in Raila Odinga stolen election in 2007. How now she has become a darling of the Cord fraternity.
Just wondering what stunt she will pull ahead of the 2017 general election.
