Mombasa MCAs have now claimed that the Jubilee administration is keen on assassinating Governor Hassan Joho or staging is disappearance, the Star reports.
According to Tudor MCA Patrick Simuyu, Joho assassination will be orchestrated to take the shape of a terror attack.
The Star quoted a senior official in the government as saying that the government cannot use such means to silence the governor. He said:
The government cannot apply such unorthodox means.”
“If they feel that his life is in danger, the governor should apply for more security details. We respect the court decision (not to arrest him).”
The assassination attempt claims were echoed by Old Town Mofard Amur who said:
“Joho may be slain at any time”.
His Kipeveu counterpart Ibrahim Kondo said that Mombasa residents were on high alert.
The government official who did not want to be quoted said that MCAs can say anything and dared those making the allegations to swear an affidavit.
Amur said that Joho would face the same fate as JM Kariuki, Robert Ouko, Sorenei, Bishop Alexander Muge.
“What was the end result of their trials and persecutions under the hands of the former states? History speaks for itself.”
“They can do anything to silence him. What I have witnessed since I was young is that leaders who opposed the government of the day and had clout with suffering people were either silenced or killed using state machinery”
Amur went on to state if Joho would not be killed he would suffer the post-traumatic stress disorder. He said symptoms will include flashbacks, severe anxiety, nightmares, depression and memory lapses.
Governor Joho has been in a tiff with Internal Security CS Joseph Nkaissery after he stood his ground that he would not surrender his guns.
The CS had warned the Governor he would face arrest if he doesn’t compile with the order.
