The DP has been dogged by allegations of corruption and this was not helped by the lackluster performance in his political bastion.
Although Jubilee won by over 100,000 votes in Kericho Senate by-election, political pundits aver that Kanu performance cannot be downplayed.
The President spent a considerable time in the Kenya Coast and dished out title deeds like confetti with the hope of changing the political fortunes of Jubilee in next year general elections. We are yet to see but the 'beating' of their candidates speaks volume.
His DP also spent considerable time in the Malindi constituency campaigning vigorously for Jubilee candidate Philip Charo. The residents opted for Malindi ODM Willy Mtengo
The sentiments were also shared by Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto who stated that Kingpin in the region is President Daniel Moi.
He was quoted by Capital FM as saying:
“There is no king in Rift Valley and for your information, the Kalenjin Mzee remains Moi,” he told Capital FM News in an interview.
“We are not aware of any day Moi has handed over leadership. In Kalenjin land we have only have different political leaders at various times. The Kalenjin community still adores the leadership of the former President Moi.”
The two leaders don’t see eye to eye with the Governor taking everything to throw barbs at the leader.
It was largely expected Jubilee Alliance Party’s Aaron Cheruiyot would beat KANU candidate Kipkorir Sang hands down but that was not the case.
Others issues that have soiled the DPs popularity are the many scandals he either finds himself in or those close to him.
