Raila Skipped Wetangula Presidential Launch After Learning It Was Organized By Jubilee

Conflicting reports have emerged to what would have led Cord leader Raila Odinga to skip the much-publicized presidential launch by Bungoma senator Moses Wetang’ula in Kakamega.

According to the Star, Raila was informed by credible sources that the event was organized by Jubilee.

It is alleged that the Ford Kenya leader is planning to ditch CORD and join Jubilee in the forthcoming general election.

Kalonzo was also aware of the involvement of Jubilee and this was further fostered with the presence of pro Jubilee MPs (Khatib Mwashetani and Richard Onyoka of Lunga Lunga and Kitutu Chache South respectively), and Jubilee nominated Senator Ben Njoroge.

A Raila ally was quoted as saying:

“Jubilee involvement in the planning of the event was known much earlier and passed on to the Cord principals”

Mwasheteni was overheard by ODM Director of Strategy saying:

“I overheard Mwashetani telling Senator Njoroge that if you see me here, you know where Ford Kenya is headed”

Other reports have it that Raila Odinga skipped the event after Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya threatened to quit ODM if the CORD leader attended the Presidential launch of Moses Wetang’ula.

Infact, it was Raila’s chopper that Kalonzo Musyoka used to fly to venue in Muliro gardens. Raila instead opted to fly to Tanzania with his family. He was received by President John Pombe Magufuli.
