President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted Wiper MPs at State House on Thursday morning.
According to political pundits, President Uhuru Kenyatta is capitalizing on the wrangling in CORD alliance ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
In what is seen as a major political coup, all Wiper MPs from Kitui except one were in attendance.
The MPs were led by Wiper chairman David Musila and Francis Nyenze-the National Assembly minority leader to the meeting that was also attended by Transport and Infrastructure CS James Macharia.
Muthama has however rubbished claims that the meeting was political.
He was quoted by the Star as saying:
“Those MPs met the president to discuss how to tarmac the Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwingi road after we threatened to hold a major protest, nothing political”
The leaders discussed the need to discuss the tarmacking of the Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwangi road. They also pleaded with the Head of State to visit the region with urgency.
