A child who is named after Raila Odinga in Meru county has been denied a birth certificate.
According to a post doing heavy rotation on social media, the young Raila parents were told to travel to Kisumu to get the important document by the registrar of persons.
Meru is perceived to be a Jubilee stronghold although the opposition has been making headways. Tigania East MP Mpuri Aburi was elected on an ODM ticket before defecting to Jubilee.
Raila has been making forays into the county to win over new supporters. The CORD leader met his namesake who was accompanied by his parents when he visited the county.
The opposition doyen told his supporters that he had written to UK prime minister asking him to lift a ban on miraa. Meru miraa heavily relied on the UK market until it was classified as a drug.
Raila assured the residents that he had engaged lawyers to fight the classification of miraa as a drug and open the lucrative market.
President Uhuru also met leaders from the region at State House and assured them that he was working to remove the barriers on miraa traders.
