Cord Leaders Skip Lucy Kibaki Funeral To Protest Jacob Juma Killing

Cord principals gave Lucy Kibaki’s funeral service a wide berth to protest the assassination of businessman Jacob Juma.

The funeral service was attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kenya First lady Margaret, DP William Ruto and his wife, former Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete among other leaders.

According to reports carried out in a leading daily, the late Lucy Kibaki had made it clear that she did not want politics in her funeral service.

Jacob Juma was assassinated on Thursday at around 4 am as he drove from his club to his Karen home. Police said that Juma was shot at eleven times by gunmen in a motorbike. Investigators are yet to establish the motive but have said the gunmen were professionals.

Social media pundits went on the offensive claiming that certain individuals who included the Deputy President should be investigated.

Raila told the press that he was to met Juma on the fateful night saying that he had important leads on the Eurobond 'scam'. Wetangula led Fork Kenya legislators in questioning the role of the government in the slaying of the businessman.

Juma had claimed that Ruto wanted him dead. Opposition leaders, led by Raila Odinga, have asked the government to form a commission of inquiry to unearth those behind the killing of the businessman.

The absence of Cord legislators has further fueled rumors that Raila and his co-principals are not ready to engage the duo of Uhuru and Ruto.
