Luo’s Are Raila’s Worst Enemies
The Luo community is a proud lot. While pride is not a bad character-it only becomes toxic when it is mixed with arrogance and violence.
In all fairness Raila Amolo Odinga should forget the presidency. The former Prime Minister is a good man who has been touted as the doyen of Kenya opposition politics. He fought relentlessly for the democratic space we enjoy to date. That we do not deny.
His undoing, however, is his many supporters from the predominately Luo Nyanza who treat him as a demi-god who cannot be faulted whatsoever.
It comes as no surprise that his CORD co-principals Moses Wetangula and Kalonzo Musyoka are on the verge of bolting from the coalition.
His Luo community has perfected the art of alienating other communities that otherwise supported Raila. When Wetangula should interest in running for the Presidency he was labeled a mole.
ODM bloggers went on the overdrive accusing the Ford Kenya chairman of working with Jubilee. Other leaders from Western Kenya, led by ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba, have earned the moniker of moles.
Raila and his think tank should be asking themselves the hard questions: why are leaders affiliated to the Cord coalition moving swiftly to Jubilee?
Wiper legislators have castigated their ODM counterparts of treating them like flower girls. Ford Kenya has already bolted out and Wetangula is waiting for the opportune time to join Jubilee. Of course ODM bloggers attacked the coalition partners.
The Luo community should grow up and realize that Raila can only ascend to the presidency with the support of other communities.
At one point Deputy President William Ruto was Kikuyu’s enemy number one. Today the Kikuyu community has turned out to be his supporters’ number one. They will support him to the end. The Luo community has on the other hand turned Kalonzo and Wetangula and the devil incarnate every time they show interest in running for the top seat.
