Panic has gripped ODM ahead of the next general elections over lack of funds to mount a successful campaign.
The largest party in the country cannot carry even the most of mundane activities for lack of funds. This has forced the party top echelons to request for contributions from its members and supporters.
According to the Star, the installed five member elections board is in limbo prompting Raila to seek moneyed aspirants to register as life members.
“The demand for money is extremely high and we have at some point been operating at the extremes. We must fund party activities, fly the party leader on his tours and even pay salaries. Things are thick”
“We have governors, MPs, senators and MCAs who have not been honouring their obligations with the party in arrears of more than Sh5 million,” added the official at Orange House.
One of the planned events to raise funds will be held tonight at the Bomas of Kenya with aspirants seeking the ODM party tickets. The event will be presided by Raila.
All the attendees will fork out Sh6,000 to dine with the party leader.
