|ODM Deputy Leader Hassan Joho Flagging Bus|
The Orange Democratic Movement party (ODM) has come under sharp criticism for promising nonexistent buses for every county.
Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who also doubles up as the ODM deputy party leader, was on record as saying that the party will flag off 47 buses but only ended up delivering one bus that had ODM colors and logo.
The much hyped event took place at Fort Jesus to make ODMs 10th anniversary. Those present during the flagging of the sole bus were MPs Rashid Bedzimba (Kisauni), Mishi Mboko (Mombasa), Omar Mwinyi (Changamwe), Abdulswamad Nassir (Mvita) and deputy governor Hazel Katana.
Almost a week since the highly charged 10th anniversary held at the Tononoka grounds and graced by ODM leader Raila Odinga, the buses have not been spotted in any of the other 46 counties.
At the time, Joho was quoted as a section of the media as saying:
“They have left to pick supporters because they will take two days to be in Mombasa”
The event was hurriedly put together to rival Jubilee Party launch held in Nairobi.
ODM director of elections was on record as saying that ODM would flag off the buses to comb the entire country.
"The vehicles will be branded to comb the entire country, mobilising and rallying people around our 2017 agenda," the vocal legislator said.
Delegates are now questioning the veracity of the claims by the party top echelons. Joho has remained mum over the issue.
