All is not well between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy if the recent pronouncements playing out in the media are anything to go by.
Allies of Ruto, led by Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago, have claimed that some powerful Mt Kenya leaders are grooming former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth to succeed President Uhuru in 2022.
The Governor stated that they were privy to secret meetings held by Central Kenya powerbrokers to curtail chances of Uhuru ascending to the presidency.
He was quoted by the Star as saying:
“We will have our meeting and also name also those involved in the plan to sabotage Ruto politically”
The meeting will bring together senators, MPs, MCAs and elders from the Kalenjin community.
Mandago said it was sad that the Kikuyu community is betraying their son.
“During the 2022 elections, they will have to vote for Ruto because it was a deal. We backed them in 2013 and we will do the same next year,” added the controversial Governor.
The Governor said that they were aware Boniface Mwangi was being used to malign the name of the DP:
“For those who have dreams that they will tarnish Ruto’s name through someone called Boniface Mwangi, so that by 2022 they start giving excuses, we will not accept that”
