Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura has demanded for an apology from fire spiting Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
In a televised interview on Citizen TV, a charged Sonko cursed and used demeaning words on his main challenger, Peter Kenneth, for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
Calling him ‘chewing gum’ (Peter Kenneth goes by the initial PK which is also associated with a popular chewing gum brand), the Nairobi Senator said he cannot shelve his gubernatorial ambitions for an albino.
Miffed by these unpalatable utterances, Isaac Mwaura-who is an albino-asked for an apology from the Senator for demonizing albinos.
Mwaura abandoned the ODM party that had nominated him to parliament for Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party as he seeks to contest the Ruiru parliamentary seat.
Here is what he shared on his facebook page:
Mike Mbuvi Sonko must in no equivocal terms apologize for demonizing and abusing Hon Peter Kenneth using the God given status of albinism. Its totally uncalled for to use our condition in derogatory terms in order to settle political scores. Mr Sonko should know that persons with albinism are Kenyans too and who have a right to be elected into any office. He should avoid misleading his supporters that Hon Kenneth has albinism. To abuse people because of their skin colour is to go against article 27 of the constitution of which the elected senator of nairobi swore to uphold and protect. The Albinism Society of KENYA shall issue a further statement on this tomorrow. Kenyans of mixed race have a right too. Sonko should also tell us of what he thinks of our dear first lady Margaret Kenyatta and even President Barrack Obama.
