Being a celebrity or a public figure is no walk in the park. Your fans and ‘haters’ will religiously follow you to either praise or critic your fashion taste. Simply put you are public property-for lack of a better term. Fashion trends are largely influenced by celebrities the world-over. You might want to cling to your comfort zone on styling, but remember the public demands that you look good for them. Here are some Kenyan personalities who dress for themselves and not the public.
Makadem oozes talent and has influenced many artists in and out of Kenya. His talent aside, Mr Olova sense of fashion may as well lack description. A photo he shared on his Facebook page while on a tour of Europe left many wondering how he managed to wriggle himself into the tight fitting jeans.
Ian Mbugua definitely slays in the music scene. However, he should take a cue out of his music criticism to his sense of style. The TPF judge was a regular on The Fashion Watch which used to be aired on Citizen TV. Although he was always criticizing other people’s fashion sense, his style-or lack of it- remained wanting throughout the show.
Grapevine host Abbih Nguma is doing a decent job since Anyiko Owoko left and left a huge gap in the K.B.C show. However, Abbih could have taken some style tips from Anyiko or better yet requested to use her stylist. The dude only wears neutral colors which include black, gray or white with black or blue jeans. At times he pairs it off with a jeans or leather jacket. Until recently, Abbih used to wear a blue jeans and black tie in every show. It seemed that he kept rewinding the same outfits. Although we get it that Grape Vine is a weekly show, please put some color on you or better yet just dress in something else other than the jeans. His complexion also allows him to experiment with so many colors and yet he sticks to the neutral colors. For a music and entertainment show, you could do better. To top it all, he is also a musician and designer. We understand that K.B.C is one of the worst salary payers but just try and get some sense of style while presenting the show.
Justin Karunguru: PAMBAZUKA NATIONAL LOTTERY SHOW TV HOST
Justin Karunguru is the Pambazuka National Lottery male TV Host for Sunday. The Pambazuka National Lottery show is a program that is aired on NTV. Although we love the combination of Justin with Fatuma, the oversized coats that he wears at times seem a bit over the top. We understand you have a belly that you might be trying to hide but please find better ways of concealing it.
DK Kwenye Beat
Although D.K Kwenye Beat sense of style is ok the only problem is that his clothes don’t fit. DK keeps having a bulging midriff and yet his clothes are not catching up. All he needs to do is to maintain the same clothes but just order them in a bigger size.
Sadly Victor Wanyama of Tottenham Hotspur will have to join this list courtesy of his team mate Danny Rose who said this about him and Dier, “He comes (Dier) comes in the biggest gear you would even imagine, he’s probably top of the list,” he added “Victor Wanyama is a close second, he came in a fur hoodie the other day. It looked like he’d stolen something from Pat Butcher out of Eastenders.” The England Defender told Soccer AM. Wanyama joined the team last year. He was able to beat Yaya Toure and Victor Moses to be the English Premier League African player of the month earlier this year.
Kinuthia Mbugua is the Nakuru Governor. This governor’s sense of style is in the woods. We all know that mixing stripes and prints is a fashion red flag. The mheshimiwa doesn’t think so. Just as long as he has put together an outfit, then he’s good to go.
Cyprian Awiti is the Homabay Governor. This mheshimiwa’s has no sense of style. In the past he has been making headlines due to his either too tight outfits or suits that are to baggy and cannot fit him.
