Evans Kidero was among the political heavyweights who suffered a heavy defeat at the hands Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
The outgoing Governor had a slim chance of retaining the coveted seat given his rather below par performance during the five years he was at the helm. It is yet to be seen what the new Governor will have to offer city dwellers.
Sonko garnered 829,161 votes while the Kidero managed 663,830 votes. Peter Kenneth came a distant third with 41,367 votes.
