Kiss Fm radio presenter Adelle Onyango came out to speak about her rape ordeal and how she managed move on with her life with the aid of a therapist.
Adelle, who is arguably one of the best female presenters in the region, was raped in 2008 by a stranger as she was heading to a club in Westlands.
According to the bubbly presenter, she had left her phone in a friend’s car who had dropped them at club Changes. Adelle decided to go get her phone and she made the ultimate blunder of going alone.
The friend had packed his car in another club. She recounted how a man, who had offered to accompany her but she declined, accosted her and forced himself on her before fleeing when they reached a back route of a nearby police station.
Adelle first shared her harrowing experience in 2012 to encourage others in similar situation to overcome the trauma and move on with their lives.
Then enters the controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi questioning who would want to rape the presenter.
His post read:
Adelle Onyango gave a powerful speech against the rape culture. Pardon me for my ignorance, but who in their right mind would want to rape, let alone have consensual sex with her? Asking for a friend.
