Are we ever prepared to respond to emergency situations in good time? How many lives must we lose before heads start rolling?

The ineptness of authorities charged with disaster management was on full display earlier today when a chopper carrying five crashed in Lake Nakuru.

The National Disaster Management Unit arrived on the scene on time to do nothing. They had no boat making it impossible to rescue any survivors.

A boat arrived six hours later from Lake Naivasha which will be used to retrieve the bodies of five onboard the ill fated plane.

The chopper crashed shortly after it left Jarika County Lodge at around 6.15 am. Nakuru Senator Kihika Kimani said three of the five on board the ill fated aircraft were members of her communication team.

The helicopter is owned by owned by Flex Air Charters run by a Captain Bootsy Mutiso and not President Uhuru Kenyatta as earlier reported.
