Edith Vethi will vie for the Kitui West MP seat left vacant after the demise of her husband Francis Nyenze.
The widow will contest for the seat on a Wiper Party ticket. Nyenze, who had been ailing for a prolonged period of time from colon of the cancer, died on December 6.
Nyenze was a close ally of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka but their relationship was abit rocky going to the 8 August polls.
The legislator had at one time urged his supporters to re-elect President Uhuru Kenyatta although he was in the opposition.
“If somebody does well to you, you can’t forget. Can you forget those who have done well like Uhuru Kenyatta?” the late legislator said at the time.
He went on to say: “Let’s not be swayed by politics of empty rhetoric by those alleging President Uhuru hasn’t worked well. The truth is Uhuru has done a lot and we’ll elect those whose work can be seen”
